Preventative exterior maintenance is essential to ensuring optimal long-term building operations, both from a technical and financial perspective. However, developing a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance plan can prove to be challenging for building managers and operators. In response to this challenge, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International has produced a Guide to Exterior Maintenance Management.

The 116-page guide is designed to assist real estate professionals in constructing and implementing maintenance strategies related to building roofing systems, windows, lighting, and other elements. It also includes checklists on subjects such as housekeeping inspection; exterior conditions; and roads, grounds and parking preventative maintenance.

“BOMA International’s Guide to Exterior Maintenance Management is an essential resource for property and facility management teams,” says Gabriel Eckert, FASAE, CAE, BOMA Georgia Chief Executive Officer. “The guide is tremendously helpful for property professionals in developing reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance plans and procedures.”
